Welcome to another wonderful year of teaching and learning at Menahga Elementary School!! I am excited about continuing the journey with you and our school team, to provide a quality education for your child as we strive to fulfill our school vision and mission. The vision of District 821 is, “The Menahga School District exists to engage all learners on a life-long path to success.” We will do this through our mission, “CHART a course that HONORS the past and ENVISIONS the future.” As staff, students, and community we strive to fulfill this mission with every child, every day.
This year, we are excited to welcome three new teachers who will be working with our students in the elementary. Mr. Joshua Roiko in 1st grade, Ms. Destiny Mitchell in 2nd grade, and Ms. Keylee Schoon in 4th grade. I am very confident that these 3 individuals will be strong members of our Menahga team.
You may notice a shift of some of our existing staff! Mrs. Kerry White will be our Instructional Coach and Title I Teacher, Mrs. Scheidecker will be moving to 3rd grade, Mrs. Jean Kruft and Mrs. Christin Mohr will be joining the Menahga Elementary Special Education Team and Lindsey White will be joining Katie Smith as a full time Physical Education teacher in the Elementary. Along with these changes, you will notice our janitorial and painting team has been busy repainting, waxing and making our school look great for the start of the school year.
Communication between home and school is essential. Menahga School is working hard to continue to improve in communication. Our Instant Alert System, Family Access, (in Skyward,) and Facebook are three ways you can keep up to date with what is happening. It is our goal to provide the best possible educational opportunities for your child. If you have any concerns or would like to visit about your child(ren), please do not hesitate to stop by our school. You may call the teachers or myself at 564-4141. Each teacher has his/her own telephone extension and classroom phone. You may also email us anytime. The student handbook along with staff contact information is posted on the school’s website. If you have questions about any of these communication means, please do not hesitate to ask.
One of my goals as school administrator is to ensure all students show growth in every area of learning. Our teachers are constantly learning and growing in their profession at Menahga School. Along with training in technology and assessment, our ongoing professional development will continue in the area of RtI, (Response to Interventions,) and Differentiation in all areas. We will continue to ensure all students are growing and learning, through this process.
I look forward to seeing you at our back to school Open House which is scheduled for Thursday, August 31st, from 4:00-5:30. The first day of school will be Tuesday, September 5th.
Charting a course, that honors the past, and envisions the future, Menahga Elementary is educating tomorrow’s future, one child at a time. Come join us, take a tour, and see the future at a glance!
